The winter months and holiday season can be stressful. There is a lot more on our plates this season than at any other time of the year.
Apart from time and financial pressures, emotional issues associated with this season like family stuff, memories, weight gain, unfulfilled expectations. . .can make you go crazy! If you combine that with less sunlight due to shorter days, you can easily fall into the realm of the “holiday blues”.
Vitamin D is an often-overlooked resource for many things, and that includes fighting the “blues.”
There are several ways to get a good daily dose of vitamin D, and the best, easiest, and cheapest way is to expose yourself to natural sunlight for about 15 minutes. So go for a walk outside in the sun every day!
If you’re concerned about 15 minutes of sun exposure, don’t worry (sunscreen has its own dangers) as long as you’re taking high levels of antioxidants (daily Ningxia Red is perfect for this!).
Walking outside in the sun will not only get you more vitamin D, but by moving your body and breathing fresh air, your lymphatic circulation will be boosted and your body oxygenated! It is a simple but profound practice.
A great alternative source of vitamin D is drinking cod liver oil daily. It’s not that bad! (I hear you say “ugh”). Once you get the mint flavor, it’s pretty easy to take.
Other benefits of vitamin D include:
– Reduces the risk of cancer
– Increases calcium absorption
–Aids in the treatment of psoriasis
