Transcendental Meditation and its Multiple Benefits

We are all looking for something more in our lives – more happiness, better health, greater accomplishments, and deeper fulfillment. Here we have an ancient but scientifically validated program known as Transcendental Meditation (TM) as a simple technique of holistic development that provides solutions to all of the contemporary challenges faced by individuals and societies everywhere.

What is Transcendental Meditation?

Transcendental meditation is a simple, natural, and effortless technique that is practiced twice a day for 20 minutes in a comfortable sitting position with your eyes closed. No concentration, no control of the mind is required to practice this technique. In addition, the TM technique does not involve monitoring thoughts or “trying to clear the mind”. It also doesn’t require a lifestyle change or belief system change to learn this technique. Over 10 million people have learned TM – of all ages, cultures, religions and social classes.
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduced this technique around the world in the late 1950s to help each individual develop the enormous inner potential that plays an important role in being successful and happy in life.

The technique of Transcendental Meditation allows our active minds to naturally and spontaneously direct inward through quieter levels of thought until we experience the quietest and most peaceful level of our own consciousness – pure awareness – reservoir of infinite bliss, creativity and intelligence.
If we practice this technique regularly, it will help increase that bliss, intelligence along with success and fulfillment in our daily life.

What are the benefits of transcendental meditation?

There are more than 650 scientific research studies, 400 of which were published in peer-reviewed journals and carried out in over 250 universities and research institutes in 30 countries over the past 50 years, documenting the benefits of Transcendental Meditation in the field of mental potential. Health, behavior and society.

When the mind calms down during TM practice, the body enters a unique state of deep calm that naturally dissolves deeply ingrained tension, which helps reduce:

– Anxiety
– Depressions
– High blood pressure
– insulin resistance
– Post-traumatic stress disorder
– Obsessive-compulsive disorder
– Autism spectrum and many other diseases.

Research has shown that TM contributes to a healthier heart, increases immunity, and decreases hospitalization rates. In addition, it promotes a younger biological age and improves gene expression.

TM creates a unique type of brain function and shows an extraordinary order, measured with an electroencephalograph – the so-called EEG. Elevated order is called EEG coherence. High EEG coherence is significantly associated with:

Research studies show that people who practice TM have improved professional and personal relationships; Greater appreciation for others; and increased tolerance. When TM was taught in prisons, research found that aggression, verbal hostility, and the tendency to assault and relapse in prison inmates were reduced.

Many scientific studies show that when a large group of people, more than 1% of the population in a given area, practices TM, it naturally enhances positive trends and reduces negative trends in a given area – this phenomenon is known as –Maharishi effect.

When groups practiced the TM and its advance programs (square root of one percent of the population in the given area) it was enough to reduce violent crime, homicides, road traffic deaths, other accidental deaths, drug deaths, child mortality and more peace in the country – as in society several areas like Lebanon, Cambodia, USA, Netherlands etc. has been covered by several research studies – known as Extended Maharishi Effect.
